After a childhood spent in Singapore, South East-Asia, and Johannesburg, the Republic of South Africa, thanks to her diplomat and commodity trader Grandfather, and a youth spent in New York City, United States, and Warsaw, Poland , Agnes Janich makes Geneva, Switzerland one of her permanent homes since 2016.
Agnes Janich has been working in Switzerland since 2006 already. She was twice a resident artist with the Winterthur based private foundation, Sulzberg Foundation -- administering the Kulturhaus Villa Sträuli, Switzerland.
Agnes Janich has exhibited, in numerous Swiss institutions, such as the Galerie Walter Keller in Zurich, which represented her since her early years, the Progr Art Center in Bern, the National Museum in Zurich, Galerie C in Neuchâtel. Agnes Janich has also received grants from, and worked with the officials of the City and Canton of Neuchatel, as well as the Conseilleur communal de la Ville de Neuchâtel (Mayor of the City of Neuchâtel) and the then délégué culturel de la Ville de Neuchâtel (Head of Culture for the City of Neuchâtel), now the Dicastère de la culture, de la cohésion sociale, de l’intégration et des ressources humaines de la Ville de Neuchâtel.
