After a childhood spent in Singapore (the district of Bukit Timah) and Johannesburg (the district of Sandton), the Republic of South Africa, thanks to her diplomat and commodity trader Grandfather, and a youth spent in New York City (the district of Manhattan Beach) and Poland (Warsaw, the district of Śródmieście, downtown), Agnes Janich decided in 2016 to make Geneva, Switzerland one of her permanent homes.
Agnes Janich has been working in Switzerland since 2007, when she was invited as a resident artist to Villa Straeuli [now Kulturhaus Villa Straeuli] in Winterthur. She has since worked with, and exhibited, in numerous Swiss institutions, such the National Museum in Zurich, the Progr Art Center in Bern, Galerie C in Neuchâtel, Galerie Walter Keller in Zurich, and worked with the officials of the City and Canton of Neuchatel.
