Agnes Janich has been living in Geneva, Switzerland from 2016. She has been a part-time resident in Ticino since 2021, living in Morcote, Ascona and, since 2023, Mendrisio.
After a childhood spent:
- in Singapore -- the residential district of Bukit Timah
- Johannesburg -- the affluent district of Sandown, Sandton, the Republic of South Africa,
thanks to her diplomat and commodity trader Grandfather,
- and a youth spent in New York City -- the districts of Manhattan Beach and Seagate,
- as well as Poland -- Warsaw, the district of Śródmieście, downtown
Agnes Janich now makes Geneva, Switzerland and Mendrisio, Ticino, Switzerland her home for good.
Agnes cherishes growing up with her beloved Grandpa, who helped build the very young democracies of Singapore and Israel into the global superpowers they are today. She remembers fondly the times sitting on Lee Kuan Yew's, Singapore Founding Father's, lap, and learning first hand about the foundations of democracy.
Agnes has equally fond memories of her adored Great-Grandma, a stunning and strong woman who owned her own companies in Poland, only recently freed from over a century of occupation. This was almost one hundred years before women in the Swiss canton of Appenzel had the right to vote.
Agnes is honored to stand on the shoulders of her Elders, who actively built bridges of friendship and trade between people of different nations and genders, and add to their legacy with her Art.
