A monetary grant, sponsoring Agnes Janich's installation, The Way to You, at Bondi Beach in Sydney, AU, also supported by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Sydney, AU, and the Sky Foundation, Sydney, AU.
The installation, The Way to You, drew attention to the parallel of the plight of Bondi Surf Bathers Lifesaving Club to rescue some 200 drowning people on Black Sunday '38, and the plight of one woman to save his husband amid the turmoil of the '44 Warsaw Uprising. The woman swam in full armour, carrying her wounded husband to safety under enemy fire. They both went on to became doctors and save lives.
Agnes Janich held an Artist's Talk at the Bondi Pavillion, Theatre Room to describe her practice and the roots of the installation.
