Home Forlorn was Agnes Janich's a solo intervention on the ground floor of the Galerie C, Neuchâtel, Switzerland, during Papier, bitte, a group show on the topic of borders that she also participated in.
The monumental sculpture, Home Forlorn, talked about houses left empty and forlorn by persons deported during the War. The sculpture included live fruit that, for three weeks, sweetly putrefied in the gallery, emitting a gentle scent. This process, as it unfolded, reminded the visitors that death leaves traces on both the material and the immaterial. Traces that it takes time to shake off.
Agnes Janich was supported in this project by the officials of the City and Canton of Neuchâtel.
